Ingredients
- 8-10 colocasia (arbi/taro) leaves
- 1.5 cups besan
- 1 tsp tamarind pulp
- 1 tbsp jaggery
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- Oil, mustard seeds for tempering, salt
Method
- Make a thick, spreadable paste with besan, tamarind, jaggery, turmeric, chilli powder and salt.
- Lay a leaf vein-side up, spread the paste evenly, stack another leaf on top and repeat for 3-4 layers.
- Roll tightly into a log and tie or secure it.
- Steam the rolls for 25-30 minutes until firm; cool and slice into rounds.
- Shallow fry the slices with a tempering of mustard seeds, sesame seeds and oil until lightly crisp; serve warm.
