Ingredients
- 500g fish fillets
- 1 cup grated coconut, ground to a paste
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1.5 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- Tamarind pulp, oil, salt
Method
- Grind the grated coconut with a little water into a smooth paste.
- Heat oil, saute onion until soft, then add ginger-garlic paste and tomatoes; cook until the tomatoes soften.
- Add turmeric and chilli powder, cook briefly, then add the coconut paste and a little water to reach a curry consistency; simmer for 8-10 minutes to let the flavours meld.
- Add tamarind pulp for tang and season with salt, then slide in the fish pieces gently.
- Simmer for 8-10 minutes until the fish is just cooked through, without stirring too vigorously; serve hot with steamed rice.
